Glossary: social media scheduling terms
A short reference for the terms used across these guides, written in plain language rather than marketing copy.
Terms
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Native scheduling | The network itself accepts a future date and publishes the post on its own servers. Among the networks compared here, only two do this: Mastodon for every post, Facebook for anything but a story. |
| Simulated scheduling | The tool holds the post and calls the network’s API right at the scheduled time. What almost every scheduling tool does, Timalio included, and not a flaw: just not "native". |
| Approval workflow | A post is submitted by its author and has to be approved by a reviewer before it can publish, or sent back for changes. |
| Connected account | A single social media account (one LinkedIn profile, one Bluesky handle…) linked to Timalio. Timalio’s price is per connected account. |
| MCP (Model Context Protocol) | An open protocol that lets an AI agent call a set of tools over a standard interface. Timalio’s MCP server exposes eight tools for scheduling and reading posts. |
| w_member_social | The LinkedIn OAuth permission that lets an app post to a personal profile on that member’s behalf, obtained self-serve with no application review. |
| Seat | A paid user slot, as several competitors price it. Timalio has no seat fee: users are unlimited, only accounts are billed. |
| Link card | The preview box (title, image) a network builds automatically when a post includes a URL: Bluesky generates one for Timalio posts today. |
